How Much Water to Drink to Lose Weight?

Updated: Jun 5

So how much water do I need to drink to help me lose weight?

The answer is, you want to drink at least half of your body weight in ounces.

That means, let’s say, I weigh about 160 lbs then I need to drink about 80 ounces of water.

That’s about 5 of these 16 oz. bottles a day.

Drinking water is so important! In fact, I think it’s as important as diet and exercise. Here’s the reason why… drinking water is going to help you with several factors.

Number one is it’s going to help you increase your metabolism. Yes, when you drink water your metabolism goes up. In fact a study was done where people who drank water, increased their metabolism by 25%. Yes, that's a lot!

And second, if you drink water, it's going to help with the fat burning processes. So you need water to help you burn the fat.

And lastly, if you drink water, it’s going to help you control hunger. For example, when you wake up in the morning and have a glass of water or before you eat – that’s going to help you feel full and satiated and, therefore, you don’t end up overeating. So make sure you drink half of your weight in ounces every day!
